I have always loved music since I was very young and always wanted to play the piano. My dad had an old keyboard of which I used to play with when I was young. My mum, fed up with the racket that I was making, organised lessons for me at around the age of six with a local Piano teacher.
Would you like to play any other instrument?
I’d love to play the drums but I don’t think my mum and dad and neighbours would be too happy with all the noise that I would make.
When was your first ever public performance?
My first ever public performance was when I was about seven. My dad organised small Christmas concerts around the local hospitals and old folks homes.

I have many artists that I admire however I must admit to having a special love for Eva Cassidy and her music.
Do you have any dislikes?
Quite simply yes birds I hate them they frighten me to death. I have a number of experiences that I can talk of but I suppose the worst was when a bird hit my conservatory and my dog Raggs attacked it. I just screamed till my dad pulled the dog off and set the bird free. I am still trying to get over the shock and that was about five years ago.

How did you get involved in doing a charity fund raiser for MacMillan Cancer Support?
For the last few years my uncles Des McKeown Gary Durick and my aunt Carolyn have been running the New York marathon in aid of the charity. Throughout the years they have helped raise many thousands of pounds for the MacMillan charity. Early in July 06 my dad came up with the idea of me doing a charity show to help further boost the existing funds. He spoke with my uncle Des who was fully supportive of the idea.
Why did you choose to do an Eva Cassidy Tribute as a theme for the show?
Since a very young age I have been a great admirer of Eva Cassidy and her music. I am inspired by her musical arrangements of many of the classics that she sung. Eva died of cancer at the very young age of 33 years and I felt that doing an Eva Cassidy tribute show was very fitting particularly in view of the fact that the charity supports people living with cancer.
You were supported by some fantastic musician's on the night can you tell us a little more about them?
My friend musical director and pianist David Farrell put in an immence amount of work for the show and deserves everyone's sincere thanks for his efforts. David wrote out all the musical parts for the rest of the guys in the band and kept everyone right on the musical arrangements. David is presently resident pianist at the Hilton Hotel Glasgow and at the prestigious Glen Eagles Hotel in Perth. He works for Scottish Ballet and for the Dance School Of Scotland. David is also accompanist for Sounds International Choral Society. David was supported by Mark Campbell on guitar. Mark is a music teacher and a very experienced musician. He has played with a number of bands throughout the years and his claim to fame is that he played in a band which once supported the Spice Girls on tour. Eva played guitar very well and had her very own particular style of playing. He put in a lot of time and effort getting the guitar parts just right. Mark introduced us to Jamie Easton 18 years the baby of the bunch who played drums and Chris Carlin who played bass. Jamie is a young and talented musician who has a great future ahead of him. Although he is more into a more modern type of music he adapted his style to suit the musical arrangements perfectly. He presently plays with three bands one of which is on the verge of being signed up by a record label. Chris who played bass is a lovely guy with an infectious laugh and a great sense of humour. He is fun loving and is the joker of the pack. An experienced musician Chris has played with a number of bands throughout the years. The latest being a U2 style tribute band who he toured the United States with. Although not familiar with a lot of Eva's songs he worked extremely hard perfecting the bass parts.
You have done a lot of charity work throughout the years what drives you to do this?
I have been involved in charity work since a very young age and have helped raise many thousands of pounds for different charities. The bottom line is I simply love performing and by doing so if I can help raise money for worthwhile causes, then I will continue to do so.
You also write your own songs how did "Shame On Us" come about?
Shame On Us was one of the first songs that I wrote and I was inspired to write it after I watched a Make Poverty History Television programme which highlighted the poverty of children in third world countries. I detest poverty in all its shape and forms and Shame On Us acts as a reminder to all people and to all leaders that the problem still exists after the cameras have stopped rolling and the news reports have stopped being broadcasted.
Who is your number one fan?
I am definitely sure about that one as he has told me so on many occasions. Jonathan my young, cousin I love him to bits. He is quiet by nature and normally a man of few words however they say actions speak louder than words. Jonathan presented me with a lovely bouqet of flowers after my Eva Cassidy tribute show.
What's next for Emma?
I am not sure but I know that it will involve music in some shape or form.
I have my prelim exams at school towards the end of this year and next year I have my Standard Grade exams. In between times I would like to get back to some song writing with David. There is some talk at the moment of us bringing together an Eva Cassidy Tribute Show which we would like to tour with but nothing is certain yet. Checkout my web site for news of this in the future.
